The Zamfara State Government has resumed the payment of monthly stipends to NYSC corps members, months after suspending the initiative. Governor Dauda Lawal made the announcement during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima.
In addition to the general allowance, Lawal introduced a special stipend for corps medical personnel, emphasising his administration’s commitment to improving welfare and ensuring a safe and conducive service environment.
He urged corps members to make meaningful impacts in their host communities and reaffirmed the state’s collaboration with the NYSC and other stakeholders to secure their wellbeing.
NYSC State Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Lawan, commended the government for reinstating the stipends, stating that it would boost morale and service delivery. He outlined that the three-week orientation programme includes cultural lectures, physical drills, leadership development, and skill acquisition training.
A total of 554 corps members were sworn in by Justice Kulu Aliyu, the Chief Judge of Zamfara, represented by Deputy Chief Registrar A’ishatu Jibrin.
