Sanwo-Olu Urges South-West States to Reform Public Sector for Talent Retention

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Heads of Service from the six South-West states to develop and implement policies aimed at attracting and retaining top talent in the public sector.

Speaking at the opening of the 2025 Strategic Meeting of Heads of Service of the South-West states in Lagos, organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need for practical strategies to enhance public service efficiency.

Represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the importance of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement in the civil service. He advocated for the adoption of technology, data-driven approaches, and merit-based promotions to modernise government operations.

Sanwo-Olu also called for regional collaboration, sharing of best practices, and collective efforts to address common challenges, reinforcing the civil service as a vital tool for achieving the objectives of the DAWN Commission and meeting the aspirations of the South-West populace.
