Staff of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) have commenced training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Performance Management Systems (PMS) to strengthen their skills and improve service delivery.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mohammed Shehu, represented by Alhaji Shuaibu Agaka, Commissioner representing Kwara State, disclosed this at the opening of a two-day workshop in Abuja on Tuesday.
Shehu explained that the training was designed to boost staff performance, productivity, and adaptability to ongoing digital transformation in government institutions.
“This training on the Performance Management System is intended to replace the Annual Performance Evaluation Report previously used by the Commission,” he said.
He added that digital tools and automation would not only minimise human error but also promote accurate data collection and analysis.
Highlighting recent progress, Shehu noted that the Commission had conducted its latest promotion examination through a digital platform, describing it as a significant step towards modernising workplace practices.
“You must change your mental orientation, mindset, and attitude to fully embrace the upcoming changes. If you do not adjust to the system, the system will likely push you out,” he cautioned.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Joseph Nwanze, said the training aimed to equip staff with new skills that would enhance their professionalism and employability.
“This training is designed to encourage staff to develop new skills while being prepared to unlearn practices no longer aligned with our new orientation,” Nwanze said.
A Performance Management System consultant from Relief Line Nigeria, Mr. Emmanuel Ohiro, commended the initiative and urged staff to take the training seriously in order to deliver better services.
Some participants, including Mrs. Elizabeth Keghku, expressed appreciation to the Commission, noting that the exercise would enable workers to better align with RMAFC’s goals and objectives.
