The Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has announced plans to embark on a seven-day warning strike from 30 September 2025 over the dismissal of council workers.
The decision followed the alleged unlawful termination of staff from the Emohua Local Government Council, which the union described as unjust and unacceptable.
In a circular signed by the State Secretary, Mr.Sunday Adeniran, and distributed to branch offices across the state, NULGE directed all council employees to withdraw their services beginning midnight on 30 September.
Adeniran explained that the resolution was reached at the union’s state executive congress in Port Harcourt on 29 September. He noted that the strike was also in solidarity with the disengaged workers, who were allegedly being denied their salaries.
“We count on your solidarity in ensuring full compliance with this directive,” Adeniran said.
