Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has reiterated his administration’s dedication to workers’ welfare and industrial harmony.
Ibas made the statement during a state-wide broadcast on Thursday in Port Harcourt to mark Workers’ Day.
He acknowledged the vital role played by workers in the development of both the state and the nation and praised their dedication, resilience, and patriotism.
Highlighting key welfare initiatives, Ibas noted the prompt payment of salaries and pensions, resolution of salary disputes, and the implementation of a minimum wage for both state and local government workers.
He also revealed plans to review the contributory pension scheme to address funding gaps and improve transparency.
Additionally, he announced a two-week leadership training programme for civil servants aimed at enhancing capacity and professionalism.
“Your welfare remains a top priority,” Ibas assured, adding that workers are central to rebuilding public trust and maintaining efficient government services and economic stability.
