The Police Service Commission (PSC) has launched a new recruitment portal aimed at decentralising the hiring process for its staff and all categories of police officers.
The PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja, following a consultative meeting with recruitment desk officers from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ani explained that the new system would enable state recruitment officers to play key roles in the 2025 police recruitment exercise, while critical stakeholders — including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Character Commission — would have access to the portal to ensure transparency and inclusivity.
He said the initiative was designed to curb corruption and nepotism in the recruitment process, while promoting accountability and fairness.
“For the first time, the commission has held a consultative meeting with the primary beneficiaries of its recruitment process — officers in charge of recruitment from across the states and the FCT,” Ani stated. “Far-reaching decisions have been taken to improve and consolidate efficient, transparent, accountable and equitable recruitment nationwide.”
Ani added that the dedicated portal would serve both PSC personnel recruitment and police recruitment, and would be activated once arrangements for the 2025 exercise were finalised.
