The Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Eleyele, Ibadan, has introduced a mandatory clock-in system to tackle incessant absenteeism and improve staff diligence.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, announced the new measure in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that it was prompted by her frequent unannounced visits, during which she found many offices empty during official work hours.
The device is expected to put an end to “absenteeism and indolence” among workers. The provost also stated that the same device would be installed at the college’s campuses in Kishi and Oyo towns.
Dr Owolabi noted that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration is committed to ensuring that residents have access to quality health services, which are founded on quality education.
“This is part of the reasons for the installation of the clock-in device in our school; it is to ensure that workers are at their duty posts,” she said.
She urged the management team and heads of departments to ensure staff members comply with the new system.
