NYSC Corps Members to Receive N77,000 Monthly Stipend from March

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has assured corps members that the newly approved monthly allowance of N77,000 will take effect from March.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, confirmed that Nafiu made the announcement while addressing corps members at the NYSC Zonal Offices in Wuse and Garki, Federal Capital Territory.

He reaffirmed the commitment of both the NYSC and the Federal Government to the welfare of corps members, assuring them that their payments would be made promptly.

“With effect from March, you will receive N77,000 as your monthly allowance. NYSC maintains accurate records, and I assure you that your money will be paid. The nation and the scheme appreciate your service,” Nafiu stated.

He commended the corps members for their dedication and encouraged them to remain calm, focused, and disciplined. He also emphasised the significance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity and exposing graduates to cultural values beyond their immediate environment.

Furthermore, Nafiu reiterated that the NYSC management would continue to instil values such as patriotism, discipline, leadership, and teamwork in future batches.

The Federal Government approved the increase in corps members’ monthly allowance to N77,000 in September 2024. Prior to this, corps members received N33,000 monthly. The increment aligns with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
