Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has announced the expansion of its youth empowerment programme as part of the ongoing Train 7 Project, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with specialised technical skills.
The development was confirmed by NLNG’s Manager of Nigerian Content Development, Mr. Dagogo Buowari, in a statement issued by the company’s Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Mrs Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, on Friday in Port Harcourt.
Buowari spoke at the launch of the Human Capital Development (HCD) Basic Training Supplementary Programme, describing it as a significant step toward meeting Nigerian Content targets while preparing young Nigerians for careers in the energy sector.
“This initiative strengthens our commitment to Nigerian Content development, particularly within the scope of the Train 7 Project. We are proud to maintain this momentum in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB),” he said.
He explained that the enhanced training programme includes two distinct learning pathways: classroom-based theoretical modules and hands-on, real-world practical training.
“The curriculum is structured with clear milestones to ensure that participants acquire both technical competence and practical industry experience,” Buowari added.
In addition to skills training, the programme offers healthcare coverage through Reliance Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO), mentorship by experienced professionals, and support services such as counselling, wellness programmes, career guidance, and performance evaluations.
“These features demonstrate NLNG’s commitment to developing well-rounded professionals capable of thriving in demanding work environments,” he noted.
Buowari urged the trainees to seize the opportunity for personal growth and future impact.
The Train 7 Project is a strategic initiative designed to increase Nigeria’s liquefied natural gas production capacity from 22 million to 30 million tonnes per annum.
