A Group of International Business People in a Meeting
The Nigeria First Agenda has announced a bold plan to create over 15 million jobs across the country as part of its commitment to national development and grassroots economic inclusion.
Speaking on Monday in Abuja, the Director-General of the organisation, Mr. Henry Nwabueze, said the initiative aims to reduce rural-urban migration, drive skill development, and establish diverse cottage industries nationwide.
“Our group aims to create 15,772,740 jobs nationwide, ensuring strong oversight across public and private sector organisations,” Nwabueze stated.
He explained that the plan aligns with the Presidential Policy on sustainable development and focuses on expanding opportunities in all areas of national life.
According to Nwabueze, the initiative will prioritise the development of cottage industries in agribusiness, food processing, metal fabrication, welding, and industrial design. Other areas include mobile phone production and temperature systems technology, particularly targeted at grassroots communities.
“This is to build capacity at the community level and enable coordinated participation in national development,” he added.
The programme will be implemented across all 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs), with the goal of tackling youth unemployment, reducing poverty, and curbing social unrest.
Nwabueze highlighted that the signing of the Nigeria First Commission Bill into law by President Bola Tinubu signals strong political will to drive the initiative forward. The implementation will be overseen by the Directorate of Corps Mobilisation and Participation under the Nigeria First Corps.
“As the President rightly said, ‘Poverty is not in Nigeria’s DNA; it was a choice we made as a nation.’ This policy aims to reverse that choice,” he said.
He stressed that the Nigeria First Agenda transcends tribal, religious, and political boundaries and is focused solely on national progress and economic opportunity for all Nigerians.
