Nigeria Customs to Hold CBT for Inspectorate, Assistant Cadres Today

By Deborah Bodunde

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for recruitment into the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will hold on 9 October 2025.

The announcement, shared on the Service’s verified X handle and Facebook page on Tuesday, marks the next stage of the ongoing recruitment exercise. It follows a mandatory pre-test conducted between 4 and 6 October to familiarise junior cadre applicants with the online testing platform.

According to the NCS, the main recruitment examination will be conducted in three batches — A, B, and C. Candidates are required to log in with their National Identification Number (NIN) at https://updates.customs.gov.ng to confirm their batch, date, and time.

“Strict compliance with the assigned batch and time is mandatory. Failure to adhere may lead to disqualification,” the Service stated.

The Customs Service also warned candidates against using calculators, mobile phones, or any external devices during the test. It further cautioned that multiple log-ins or switching browser windows could disrupt participation and result in disqualification.

The agency clarified that the CBT is strictly for Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadre applicants, excluding those in the Superintendent cadre.

Shortlisted candidates may take the test from any location with reliable internet access. However, it must be done on a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display, as the platform is not enabled for mobile phones.

The ongoing recruitment exercise, which began in December 2024, followed federal approval for the NCS to hire 3,927 officers across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.

The Service said the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen trade facilitation and boost economic recovery through enhanced border management and improved revenue collection.
