NGX, CBN Train Over 200 Students in Financial Management

The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and MinieMoney, has empowered over 200 students with essential financial skills as part of the 2025 Global Money Week celebration.

The initiative, aimed at promoting financial awareness among young people, aligns with the 2025 Global Money Week theme: “Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow,” which encourages prudent financial decision-making for a secure future.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Global Money Week, held from 17 to 23 March, is an annual campaign fostering financial awareness among children and youths.

Speaking at the event, Mr Abimbola Babalola, NGX Head of Trading and Products, highlighted the importance of financial literacy in shaping young Nigerians’ futures.

“The choices you make today with money will influence the quality of your future,” Babalola noted, urging students to develop skills in saving, investing, and responsible money management.

Christian Mordi, CBN Assistant Director, introduced the ‘Sabi Money’ platform, designed to enhance financial education across Nigeria.

“Financial literacy is more than numbers; it involves discipline, patience, and informed choices that support economic security,” he explained.

Gbolahan Faniran, CEO of MinieMoney, underscored the benefits of early investment and the power of compound interest in wealth creation.

“Financial success isn’t about trends; it’s about making deliberate money decisions today for a secure tomorrow,” he stated.

Participating schools included Vivian Fowler Memorial College, Dansol High School, Kith and Kin, Caleb British School, Lagos Preparatory, and The Bells Secondary School. Students engaged in discussions on financial literacy, investment, and capital markets and also observed live trading at NGX.
