The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam, has assumed office, urging staff to intensify efforts towards implementing key public service reforms.
Nnam made the call during his inaugural address at a handover ceremony held in Abuja on Monday. The event was announced in a statement by the Director of Press, Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Suleiman Haruna.
He expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and noted his longstanding relationship with several staff members.
“I have known some of the wonderful people here for a long time, and I am confident that our working relationship will remain productive,” he said.
Nnam emphasised the Ministry’s critical role in disseminating government policies and programmes, urging staff to work collectively to achieve the organisation’s goals.
He highlighted the importance of aligning with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP25), particularly noting that the Ministry is yet to be integrated into the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform.
“The Ministry must not lag behind while others advance with reforms. Let us commit to working harder and smarter to meet our targets,” he said.
In his remarks, Mr. Ibidapo Okunnu, Director of Production, Publication and Documentation, who had overseen the office, outlined ongoing initiatives within the Ministry.
He cited the Ministerial Press Briefing Series as part of activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.
“These briefings, led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, are designed to highlight government achievements and foster national engagement,” Okunnu said.
He added that preparations were underway for the 29 May anniversary celebrations, with strategic meetings ongoing under the National Communications Team chaired by the Minister.
