The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has pledged to help teachers affected by the alleged employment fraud at the state’s Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recover their money.
Speaking in Lafia during a session with the victims, the chairman of the Assembly’s ad hoc investigative committee, Mr. Daniel Ogazi, said the lawmakers are committed to ensuring justice is served.
“Tell us who gave you the appointment and how much you paid. Speak the truth—you are under oath,” Ogazi urged the victims.
He also summoned the former TSC Chairman, Mohammed Gada, to reappear before the committee, alongside officials from the Ministry of Education and Area Inspectorate Office in Doma Local Government Area.
Ogazi directed that letters be sent to the Commissioner of Police and the NSCDC Commandant to compel the appearance of security personnel allegedly involved in the employment scam.
During the session, Mr. Yamush Amos, an evaluation officer in the Ministry of Education, admitted acting as an agent for the former TSC chairman. He presented bank deposit slips to prove he collected payments from applicants.
Mr. Adigizi Abaya revealed he collected N14 million from 28 applicants but never received any appointment letters in return.
Affected teachers, including Ms. Sanke Priscilla and Mr. Ibrahim Abdulkadir, testified that they paid between N500,000 and N1.7 million to secure jobs. They appealed to the Assembly to help recover their money and hold the perpetrators accountable.
The case highlights growing concerns over corruption in Nigeria’s education recruitment process and has sparked calls for stronger regulatory oversight of hiring in the public sector.
