The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called on the State Pension Bureau to uphold transparency and accountability in the disbursement of pension and gratuity payments.
Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Hudu Alhaji, made the appeal when the Director-General of the Bureau, Alhaji Suleiman Nagogo, appeared before the committee during its 2025 budget assessment on Tuesday in Lafia.
Alhaji urged the bureau to take full responsibility for ensuring pensioners are not shortchanged, while commending Governor Abdullahi Sule for consistently approving the timely release of funds to the bureau.
He assured the agency of the House’s continued support to enable it to deliver on its mandate.
“As senior citizens, the welfare of our pensioners remains a top priority. We will continue to monitor the bureau’s activities to ensure compliance with best practices,” Alhaji said.
In his remarks, Nagogo thanked the governor for his prompt approval of pension and gratuity payments and expressed gratitude to the committee for its support.
