Military Pensions Board Pledges Transparency in Handling Retirees’ Entitlements

The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of retired military personnel, pledging transparency and fairness in the management of entitlements.

In a statement on Sunday, MPB’s Public Relations Officer, Sqn Ldr Aliyu Mohammed, said Chairman AVM Abubakar Adamu gave the assurance during meetings with voluntary retirees on 6 and 8 August at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja.

The engagements addressed grievances over unpaid entitlements. While some claims fell outside the Board’s jurisdiction, the gratuity component—within its mandate—was promptly reviewed.

Mohammed said the sessions were interactive, with retirees guided through the process of gratuity calculation and provided with responses to all queries.

The meetings—attended by directors of Army, Navy, and Air Force pensions—were part of MPB’s open-door policy to strengthen trust with the veteran community.

“Under AVM Adamu’s leadership, and guided by President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Board will continue to promote inclusiveness, accountability, and high service standards for Nigeria’s retired servicemen and women,” Mohammed said.

The Board urged retirees to use official channels for future concerns, assuring that matters within its remit would be addressed promptly and transparently.
