The Lagos State Government has launched a free Software Quality Assurance (SQA) training programme for 600 students and recent graduates as part of efforts to equip young people with digital and employability skills.
Comrade Kappo Olawale-Samuel, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Union Affairs (Tertiary Education), said the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Korrekt Tech, a software development firm.
Speaking on Friday, Olawale-Samuel explained that the training aims to enhance participants’ understanding of digital product testing, quality management, and technology-driven service delivery — key competencies in today’s innovation-driven economy.
The training, which began on 11 October, will run for three consecutive Saturdays (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) across three state-owned institutions:
Describing the initiative as a “launchpad to tech excellence,” Olawale-Samuel said it aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, which prioritises education, technology, and youth empowerment.
“This is more than training; it’s a launchpad to tech excellence,” he said. “The world is moving rapidly in the direction of technology, and Lagos youths are being equipped not to be left behind.”
He added that the programme targets tertiary students and young graduates seeking sustainable careers in the technology sector.
The governor’s aide expressed satisfaction with the strong interest the programme generated, noting that registration exceeded expectations before closing on 30 September.
He commended Korrekt Tech and its facilitators — Ridwan Abdulazeez, Basirat Aboyeji, Adenike Olapetan, and Ankoh Idoreyin — for their commitment to mentoring the next generation of technology professionals.
