The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has shortlisted 1,800 candidates for teaching appointments following a rigorous three-month selection process involving computer-based tests and interviews.
A statement issued by TESCOM’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onile, in Ilorin said the shortlisted candidates would be deployed to senior secondary schools across the state’s 16 local government areas based on a needs assessment.
The selection includes 790 candidates (44%) for STEM subjects, 581 for core subjects, 370 for specialised subjects, and 59 for technical subjects.
Onile advised applicants to check their status on the TESCOM portal. He said all shortlisted candidates would undergo mandatory drug testing by the NDLEA, coordinated by the Governor’s Special Assistant on Drug Abuse, Hon. Mukail Aileru.
The drug testing will take place from Wednesday, 9 April, to Saturday, 12 April 2025, in batches across the 16 LGAs.
He added that successful candidates would also sign a six-year bond not to request transfers, a measure aimed at curbing teacher shortages in rural areas.
Candidates are required to present medical fitness certificates from state government hospitals, original and photocopies of credentials, and handwritten letters of job acceptance during the documentation phase.
Further conditions of service will be communicated during onboarding.
