Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has restated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of pensioners.
The pledge was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) in Abuja, following Ododo’s courtesy visit to the commission.
The governor said his government was prioritising the prompt disbursement of monthly gratuities and clearing pension arrears, adding that his advocacy for pension reforms predated his assumption of office.
He also congratulated Mrs. Omolola Oloworaran on her recent appointment as Director-General of PenCom, describing her as “a proud daughter of Kogi State” and promising his full support for her leadership.
In her remarks, Oloworaran commended the governor’s dedication to the welfare of retirees, acknowledging his role in addressing pension-related challenges in the state. She assured him of PenCom’s readiness to collaborate with the Kogi government in strengthening pension administration and safeguarding the welfare of workers and pensioners alike.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to building a transparent and sustainable pension system that guarantees financial security for retirees.
