Kano State Launches Salary Audit to Eliminate Payroll Fraud

The Kano State Government has initiated an inspection of salary validation centres to enhance transparency and accountability in salary administration across the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim, led the inspection team to verify staff records.

According to Ibrahim, the exercise aims to eliminate payroll discrepancies and ensure that only eligible employees receive salaries.

“This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to financial prudence and efficient civil service management in Kano State,” he said.

He reiterated the administration’s dedication to eradicating inefficiencies in salary payments and promoting a transparent and accountable payroll system.

The inspection tour covered multiple validation centres, where officials engaged with civil servants undergoing the verification process.

At the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ibrahim assured workers that salaries would be paid before Sallah, provided they completed the verification exercise.

He emphasised that previous salary-related challenges had now been effectively addressed by the government.

The verification exercise will continue at various centres to ensure full compliance with payroll integrity measures.

Ibrahim expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for his commitment to the welfare of civil servants and the people of Kano State.

The Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, highlighted the importance of proper salary administration in governance, noting that accurate staff records are crucial for financial efficiency.

Some civil servants welcomed the initiative, recognising its potential to enhance fairness and efficiency in salary payments across the state.
