To boost agriculture and tackle unemployment, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Monday presented employment letters to 1,038 newly recruited candidates in agriculture-related fields.

The event, which took place at the Government House in Kano, was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, and beneficiaries from all 44 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalising the agricultural sector and restoring its importance in the state’s economy.

“This administration is committed to restoring the lost glory of agriculture in Kano,” he said.

He explained that the recruitment exercise was part of a promise fulfilled to create jobs, empower citizens, and build long-term food security.

According to him, the new employees form a vibrant team of agricultural extension workers who will be posted to relevant agencies and field offices across the state.

He noted that their responsibilities will include promoting modern farming techniques, supporting agro-processing, and championing community-driven agricultural initiatives.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Kano State Civil Service Commission, Hajiya Ladidi Garko, urged the new workers to show dedication and discipline in their roles.

She advised them to strictly adhere to civil service rules and maintain a high standard of professional conduct.

“You must avoid absenteeism, lateness, and all forms of corruption,” she said.

Garko also stated that the government would continue to introduce new programmes aimed at empowering the youth and improving human capital development.

Some of the new extension workers expressed their gratitude to the government and promised to carry out their duties with diligence and commitment.
