The Kano State Government has reassured civil servants that their March salaries will be paid promptly.
A statement issued by Musa Tanko, Chief Information Officer in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, confirmed that nearly 90% of the workforce had been verified ahead of the salary disbursement.
The Chairman of the Payroll Standing Committee, Alhaji Auwalu Sanda, stated that the payment process would be completed by March 26.
“This reflects the government’s commitment to prioritising workers’ welfare and ensuring timely salary payments,” Sanda said.
He commended Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for their cooperation, which facilitated a smooth verification process.
Addressing concerns about salary deductions, Sanda clarified that most cases resulted from loans taken by employees from vendors or financial institutions, leading to automatic deductions.
“We conduct rigorous validation to minimise errors. Any discrepancies will likely be due to external financial commitments or system issues,” he noted.
He urged civil servants to appreciate Governor Abba Yusuf’s dedication to their financial well-being and called on the public to pray for the administration’s success and the state’s continued peace during the holy month.
