Jobberman Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling youth unemployment, particularly in northern Nigeria, where joblessness remains a pressing challenge. As part of its ongoing efforts, the company is set to return to Kaduna with a second career fair aimed at equipping young job seekers with vital skills and employment opportunities.
This initiative is part of a nationwide learning series designed to upskill Nigerian youths and improve their employability. The Kaduna Career Fair is organised under the Young Nigeria Works programme, a partnership between Jobberman Nigeria and the Mastercard Foundation, with support from the Kaduna State Government.
The Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy aims to create economic opportunities for 10 million young Nigerians—especially women—by connecting them with dignified and sustainable employment through partner organisations such as Jobberman.
Scheduled for 5 April 2025 at the Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna, the fair will provide a platform for job seekers and employers to interact, network, and explore career opportunities.
Speaking about the initiative, Ahmed Alaga, Head of Programme Partnerships at The African Talent Company (Jobberman’s parent firm), highlighted the organisation’s mission to bridge the employment gap.
“At Jobberman, our goal is to create a space where young job seekers can connect with employers who recognise and appreciate talent. The Kaduna Career Fair is a key initiative that bridges this divide in northern Nigeria. By facilitating these connections, we are not only reducing unemployment but also enabling more young people to secure meaningful work,” he stated.
Themed “Empowering Your Career Journey: Navigating Opportunities and Growth,” the event will feature panel discussions on essential employability skills, gender inclusion, and workforce diversity. Discussions will focus on the challenges faced by women, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in accessing employment.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in on-the-spot interviews, potentially securing immediate job placements. The fair will feature prominent speakers, including Prof. Hauwa’u Evelyn Yusuf, Professor of Criminology and Gender Studies, Kaduna State University; Rachael Obi, Founder, Kije Outreach Foundation Nigeria; Innih Ikhide, Head of Youth Engagement & Learning Development, Jobberman Nigeria; Zaharau Yunusa, Administrator, EnterpriseNGR and Popoola Paul, CEO, HL Training Solutions.
Participating organisations will be provided with complimentary exhibition spaces to showcase their businesses and engage directly with potential hires. Both job seekers and organisations interested in attending the event can register online.
