ILO Launches Evidence Hub to Drive Decent Work in Global Supply Chains

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has unveiled a new digital platform designed to advance decent work in supply chains, offering policymakers, employers, and workers around the world easier access to critical research and resources.

Known as the Decent Work in Supply Chains Evidence Hub, the platform consolidates over 500 ILO publications from the past decade into clear, actionable insights. It is aimed at strengthening evidence-based policymaking and promoting fairer, more sustainable global supply chains.

Co-developed with the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO), the Evidence Hub supports governments, employers’ organisations, trade unions, and development practitioners by providing: plain-language summaries of complex research, interactive visualisations on decent work, trade, and investment, a comprehensive Evidence Map highlighting knowledge strengths and gaps as well as thematic overviews and practical tools for policy design and implementation

At its core is the use of generative artificial intelligence, guided by human expertise, to ensure content remains accurate, accessible, and relevant.

“The ILO has built a strong evidence base on decent work, trade, and investment over the past ten years,” said Dan Rees, Director of the ILO Priority Action Programme on Decent Work in Supply Chains.

“Now, with the Evidence Hub, we have a smarter, more strategic way to share that knowledge — and to help shape supply chains that work for everyone,” he added.

The platform is a key element of the ILO’s supply chain strategy, which advocates for more organised knowledge systems to inform practical interventions. It is expected to play a vital role in programme design, policy formulation, and research development — all through the lens of advancing decent work in supply chains.
