The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has commended the Federal Government for launching the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), an initiative aimed at creating 2.5 million jobs within two years.
The programme, unveiled by Vice President Kashim Shettima, is designed to provide sustainable employment opportunities for young Nigerians through vocational training and re-skilling initiatives, TSF stated on Monday in Abuja.
Malam Danjuma Muhammad, Chairman of TSF, gave the commendation in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He described the programme as a major step under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to address youth unemployment and prepare citizens for the future of work.
According to the group, LEEP distinguishes itself as a significant social intervention initiative aimed not only at job creation but also at strengthening the private sector’s capacity to absorb and retain skilled workers.
Muhammad said, “By investing in up-skilling and vocational empowerment, the administration is addressing both the supply and demand sides of the labour market – equipping citizens with relevant skills while energising the private sector with a more competent and prepared workforce.”
TSF also welcomed remarks made by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, who noted that LEEP would expand access to sustainable employment and enhance productivity through skills development.
“We fully align with this vision and urge Nigerian youths to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by LEEP,” Muhammad said.
The forum further called on stakeholders, particularly those in the private sector, to support the LEEP initiative and contribute to building a skilled workforce that would drive national growth.
