FCC Acting Chairman Pledges to Clear Retirement Benefit Backlog

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Mr. Kayode Oladele, has pledged to clear all outstanding retirement benefits owed to former commission staff.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday during an appreciation visit by a delegation of retirees led by former Director Mr. Sunday Eteng, Oladele acknowledged the long service of many former staff, some of whom worked for nearly three decades.

He confirmed the recent payment to 10 retirees and directed the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Toms Seisie, to make budgetary provisions to pay at least 20 more in the next phase.

While admitting financial constraints, the Acting Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to staff welfare and hinted at engaging retirees in training programmes for current staff in future.

The visiting delegation raised concerns about job opportunities for retirees’ children and unpaid transfer allowances. Several former directors in finance, special duties, monitoring, enforcement, and general services attended the meeting, offering prayers for Oladele’s success and confirmation as substantive chairman.
