
Dr. Saviour Enyiekere has officially assumed office as the sixth Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).
He took office alongside 11 commissioners, all of whom were sworn in by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by Mr. Emmanuel Anyigor, Deputy Director of Information at the Commission. Anyigor noted that Dr. Enyiekere is the first Southerner to head the Commission since its establishment on 19 June 2001.
He listed the commissioners who assumed office with Enyiekere as follows: Mr. Hanmation Tersoo and Mr. Salisu Agboola-Balogun (North-Central); Alhaji Lawan Mahmud and Mr Aminu Malle (North-East); Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and Mr. Yusuf Tabuka (North-West); Mr. Festus Ifesinachi Odii (South-East); Mrs. Mary Ekpenyong and Mr. Patrick Giwa (South-South); and Mrs. Taiwo Oluga and Mr. Afeez Ipesa-Balogun (South-West).
The Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Lucky Ikharo, while handing over official documents to the new chairman, pledged the full commitment of the new leadership to the effective performance of the Commission’s mandate.
Enyiekere, in his remarks, promised to prioritise staff welfare and uphold the Commission’s constitutional responsibilities.
“I thank President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and the leadership of the National Assembly for giving us this opportunity to serve,” he said. “We are committed to steering the Service towards achieving its legislative mandate.”
