EAPEAN Pledges Ethical Recruitment Drive as Nigeria Turns 65

The Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria (EAPEAN) has congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, pledging to sustain its drive for ethical recruitment and decent work practices across the country.

In a goodwill message, EAPEAN President, Dr.Olufemi Ogunlowo, praised the resilience, unity, and hope of Nigerians despite socio-economic challenges. He described the nation’s journey since independence as one marked by “trials, triumphs, and an enduring spirit of nationhood.”

“As we celebrate this milestone, let us reflect on the sacrifices of our founding fathers and rededicate ourselves to the ideals of unity, equity, and national development,” Ogunlowo said, stressing that Nigeria’s diversity must remain a strength in overcoming challenges and driving progress.

He reaffirmed EAPEAN’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s workforce by promoting ethical standards in employment, safeguarding workers’ rights, and working with government, labour unions, and international partners to enhance productivity. According to him, “Nigeria’s progress depends largely on the quality of its human capital, and EAPEAN remains committed to supporting policies that empower workers and foster inclusive development.”

Formerly known as the Human Capital Providers Association of Nigeria (HuCaPAN), EAPEAN was established in 2007 under the guidance of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, with technical support from the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Since its inception, it has served as the umbrella body of licensed Private Employment Agencies (PEAs), standardising industry practices and promoting fair labour relations.

Dr. Ogunlowo urged Nigerians to face the future with optimism, unity, and determination, adding that the country’s destiny rests on the collective resolve of its people to deepen democracy, justice, and shared prosperity.

“On behalf of EAPEAN, I extend heartfelt congratulations to every Nigerian. May this 65th Independence Anniversary reignite our hope and inspire us all to work together for a greater nation,” he concluded.
