The Delta State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Girl-Child Development has launched an internal training programme focused on strengthening memo writing skills among civil servants.
The initiative, held at the ministry’s headquarters, aligns with the state’s ‘MORE Agenda’ and aims to enhance service delivery and professional communication within the civil service.
Speaking at the opening session, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Wilson Chukwuka, emphasised that the in-house training supports the directive of the Head of Service for regular upskilling across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“This training is crucial for improving staff output and aligning communication standards with government expectations,” he said.
Future sessions will include workshops on voucher retirement, particularly for the accounts department.
The Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Lucky Nkemachor, noted that memo writing in the civil service has evolved from unnecessarily formal language to more accessible and effective communication.
The training brought together both senior and junior staff, reflecting the state government’s broader commitment to civil service reform and workforce professionalism.
