Delta Govt Trains Civil Servants on Work Attitude to Boost Productivity

The Delta State Government has urged its civil servants to embrace a positive work ethic as a crucial step toward enhancing productivity and improving the quality of public service delivery.

This message was delivered on Thursday in Asaba by the Head of Service, Dr Mininim Oseji, during a one-day training workshop themed “Right Work Attitude and Productive-Centred Behaviour for Effective Service Delivery.” Dr.

Oseji said the event was designed to equip public servants with essential skills and the appropriate mindset to perform effectively within the civil service structure. She emphasised that civil service reform begins with individual responsibility, discipline, and the adoption of best practices.

The training featured Mr. Michael Okocha as the lead facilitator. In his address, Okocha identified several core behavioural traits required of civil servants to improve performance. These included professional competence, effective communication, transparency, accountability, adaptability, time management, and the ability to work collaboratively.

He also called on civil servants to maintain ethical standards by safeguarding confidential information, treating both colleagues and the public with courtesy, and staying up to date with evolving trends and global best practices in the public sector.

Okocha stressed that these values are not only vital for enhanced service delivery but also for building public trust and fostering internal collaboration among teams within government ministries. The training was attended by senior government officials, including the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, departmental directors, and other high-ranking public servants.
