Delta Governor Appeals to Health Workers: ‘Stay and Earn Respect at Home’

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has appealed to medical professionals to remain committed to serving Nigerians, assuring them of improved working conditions and greater respect at home.

He made the appeal on Tuesday in Asaba while receiving members of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Delta State Chapter, led by its chairman, Dr. Israel Agadaigho.

The governor praised doctors who continue to practise in Nigeria despite the lure of better-paying jobs abroad, stressing that their service is crucial to the health sector.

“It is better for our doctors to work in Nigeria and earn respect than to go abroad and become care assistants,” Oborevwori said.

He highlighted recent investments to support healthcare workers, including eight dialysis machines distributed across hospitals in Asaba, Warri, and Oghara, and three new MRI machines for each senatorial district.

Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equipping hospitals with modern facilities and pledged to address the concerns raised by the association.
