The European Union and the World Bank have thrown their weight behind the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative—an ambitious programme aimed at equipping young Nigerians with in-demand digital skills by 2027.
The endorsement was welcomed by the Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV), who described the move as a strong validation of the administration’s efforts to develop Nigeria’s human capital in the digital economy.
In a statement issued on Friday, TMV Chairman Mr. Chukwudi Enekwechi said the support of the EU and World Bank highlights the global relevance of the initiative and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of positioning Nigeria as a leading hub of technical talent.
“Like the EU and World Bank, we at TMV believe this programme—designed to train three million young Nigerians in key technical skills by 2027—is both innovative and commendable,” Enekwechi said.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, is expected to drive economic growth, reduce unemployment, and make Nigeria an exporter of skilled technical professionals.
TMV further noted that if fully implemented, the 3MTT initiative would place Nigeria on the global map alongside countries such as India and South Africa, recognised for their robust technical talent pipelines.
The group also applauded Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr Bosun Tijani, for his role in implementing the initiative and for his dedication to building a strong digital workforce.
“This initiative is a key part of the Tinubu administration’s plan to create one million technical jobs and equip our youth with the tools to thrive in the global digital economy,” the statement read.
TMV highlighted the recent policy to make all federal science and technical colleges tuition-free as further proof of the government’s commitment to skills development. They urged young Nigerians to take full advantage of the opportunities available through the programme.
“With technical education now free at federal institutions, graduates will be better prepared for employment and entrepreneurship both at home and abroad,” the group added.
