CIPM to Train HR Leaders on Agile Methods and Emotional Intelligence in June and July

CIPM Urges Nigerian Employers to Embrace Digital Tools, Prioritise Employee Well-being in New HR Strategy Report

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) is set to host two high-impact training programmes aimed at equipping HR professionals and organisational leaders with modern tools to navigate today’s rapidly evolving work environment.

The first training, titled “Agile HR Function”, will run from 17 to 19 June 2025 at the CIPM House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. The programme will also be available virtually, offering hybrid access for participants across and outside Nigeria.

This three-day course is designed to help HR professionals and people managers adopt Agile methodologies for a more responsive, employee-focused, and innovation-driven HR function. Sessions will explore the origins and principles of Agile, including the transformation of traditional HR models through iterative development, continuous feedback, and user-centric design.

Participants will engage with practical tools such as Scrum, Kanban boards, sprint planning, and retrospectives, all tailored for HR operations. Key areas of focus will include: Talent acquisition – building talent pipelines, enhancing candidate engagement, and applying iterative recruitment strategies and Performance management – implementing continuous feedback systems, developing OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), and creating dynamic goal-setting frameworks.

Other areas include Learning and development – designing adaptive learning paths, enabling real-time capability building, and fostering internal skills marketplaces as well as Organisational transformation – using Agile principles to drive change management, build self-organising teams, and apply HR analytics to guide decision-making.

Participants will develop a customised Agile HR roadmap to identify quick wins and implement sustainable improvements in their organisations.

The second training, focused on “Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace”, will be held virtually from 2 to 3 July 2025. This two-day course aims to strengthen the emotional competencies of HR leaders and managers navigating diverse and high-pressure work environments.

As emotional intelligence (EI) becomes increasingly critical for leadership, team performance, and employee engagement, the programme will offer practical insights into the application of EI principles for personal and professional growth.

Topics will include: Understanding the core dimensions of emotional intelligence and its impact on workplace culture, making the business case for EI and exploring its role in effective leadership, differentiating between high and low emotional intelligence, and using assessment tools to identify key behavioural traits, strengthening competencies such as empathy, self-awareness, and emotional regulatio and leading with emotional intelligence to improve collaboration, conflict resolution, and innovation.

Both programmes are designed to support HR professionals in aligning with global best practices and adapting to the demands of a dynamic, digitally transformed workforce.
