By Mariam Aligbeh

The Bauchi State Government has opened an online recruitment portal to employ 10,000 residents across various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), Governor Bala Mohammed announced on Friday in Bauchi.

The recruitment exercise, which has already attracted thousands of applicants from across the state, is aimed at expanding job opportunities and strengthening the state’s workforce through what the government described as a fair and transparent process.

Speaking ahead of a stakeholders’ meeting on the exercise, Mr. Mohammed said the engagement was convened to ensure justice, equity, and accountability in the allocation of the jobs. He explained that the Head of Service had developed a recruitment template and briefed the government on the process, stressing that public trust was central to its success.

“I invited you because the Head of Service has produced a template and briefed us on the employment of 10,000 so far,” the governor said. He added that the recruitment covers 214 job categories, with 5,669 vacancies currently available across 18 MDAs.

According to him, applicants from all local government areas of the state have already applied through the portal, reflecting strong public interest. He described the response asoverwhelming, noting that the job advertisement had “generated huge interest” among Bauchi residents.

Governor Mohammed, however, clarified that only 5,669 positions are available at this stage of the exercise. He assured applicants who may not be selected in the current phase that they would be considered in the next round of recruitment planned for next year.

He called on stakeholders to support the process, warning that the government would not use the recruitment exercise for political purposes.

“I need your contributions so we can act with justice and equity. We cannot allocate vacancies for political expediency,” he said.
