Aviation unions under the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) have suspended their planned strike over unresolved remuneration disputes, citing “positive developments” in ongoing negotiations.
The coalition of unions had earlier directed all NAMA staff to withdraw services indefinitely from Monday, 11 August 2025, due to delays in meeting demands for improved pay.
In a joint statement on Friday, union leaders announced the deferment of the industrial action after receiving assurances that the agency’s new remuneration structure would be implemented alongside August salaries.
Key factors influencing the decision included the release of a “no objection” letter from the Budget Office to the National Incomes, Salaries and Wages Commission, and fresh commitments from NAMA management to expedite payment.
The statement—signed by AbdulRasaq Saidu, Odinaka Igbokwe, Frances Akinjole, and Alo Lawrence—praised the intervention of the Minister of Aviation and senior government officials.
The unions said the strike would remain on hold “pending the state of affairs at the end of August 2025,” and warned that if no resolution is reached, industrial action could resume.
