As Nigerians marked the 2025 Workers’ Day, key public figures including the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, have paid glowing tributes to the resilience, commitment, and patriotism of Nigerian workers.
In separate messages, both leaders praised the labour force – particularly civil servants – for their invaluable contributions to national development despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.
Walson-Jack, in a personally signed message issued on Thursday in Abuja, described civil servants as the foundation of Nigeria’s progress.
“On this Workers’ Day, I extend heartfelt gratitude to all Nigerian workers, especially our dedicated civil servants, whose resilience, hard work, and patriotism sustain our nation,” she said.
She urged civil servants to continue upholding the highest standards of efficiency, productivity, integrity, and dedication to public service.
“Today reminds us that through unity, innovation and excellence, we can overcome any obstacle and build a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria,” she stated.
In a similar vein, Senate President Akpabio, through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, commended Nigerian workers for prioritising the nation above personal interest.
“Despite obvious challenges, you remain the backbone of our economy. I salute your unwavering commitment to excellence and productivity,” Akpabio said.
He assured workers that the 10th National Assembly, under his leadership, would continue to champion labour-friendly legislation and uphold the rights and welfare of Nigerian workers.
“No Nigerian worker will be victimised for demanding their rights or seeking legal redress,” he added. “Together with the Executive, we will work to address workers’ concerns and create opportunities for growth and prosperity.”
The Senate President extended his best wishes to Nigerian workers on behalf of his family, constituents, and colleagues in the National Assembly, urging them to enjoy a peaceful and rewarding Workers’ Day celebration.
