The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has honoured Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with an Award of Excellence, describing him as the “Most Labour-Friendly Governor in Nigeria”.
The award was announced during the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, 27 November, 2025, at the Conference Hall of Zeus Hotel and Suites, Mabushi, Abuja. The Lagos State Chairman of the union, Comrade Balogun Olusegun, received the award on the governor’s behalf.
The NEC meeting—the first since the union’s national conference in August 2024—was attended by several key figures, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr. Muhammed Dingi Yadi; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; and the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
Addressing delegates, the ASCSN President, Comrade Shehu Mohammed, said Mr. Sanwo-Olu earned the recognition through consistent investment in workers’ welfare and the stable relationship he has maintained with labour unions in Lagos State. He said the governor had shown “uncommon commitment to workers’ welfare” through improved working conditions, timely salary payments and continuous engagement with labour leaders.
Mohammed said these efforts “reflect a progressive governance style that prioritises human capital and workplace harmony”, adding that the union considered it important to acknowledge leadership that strengthens the dignity of public service.
