Governor Otti Offers Automatic Jobs to Nine Honoured Ex-Corps Members

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved automatic employment for nine former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who recently received Presidential Honours Awards.

Otti made the announcement on Tuesday when he received the awardees, who were led to his office by the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Adama.

The governor directed the Head of Service to issue immediate appointment letters to the beneficiaries.

“On behalf of the state government, you are leaving here with a token; but beyond that, I hereby temporarily lift the embargo on employment to employ the nine of you—except if any of you is not interested,” he said.

He further instructed the Attorney-General to notify the Head of Service for prompt implementation, noting that the appointees would not be subjected to interviews.

“All you need to do is complete your documentation, and you can start work on Monday,” he added.

Otti commended the ex-Corps members for their excellence and urged them to sustain their performance in service to Abia. He also thanked the NYSC Coordinator for her role in presenting them.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Chinomso Nwogu expressed gratitude to the governor, describing him as “a true leader, the Joshua of our time,” and prayed for divine wisdom for his administration.

In her remarks, Adama noted that the nine awardees were decorated by President Bola Tinubu on 29 July for exceptional performance during their service year. None of them served in Abia, but they distinguished themselves in their respective places of primary assignment across the country.

The beneficiaries are: Nwogu Chinonso Nwogo, Promise Anyanwu, Ezieme Uba, Ezinne Emmanuel, Grace Abia, Chiemela Nwafike, Dr. Mark Ugwa, Miracle Eke, and James Chukwuebuka.
