The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced it will no longer request recruitment waivers or replacement slots, citing the potential for corruption.
PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the Federal Character Commission (FCC) in Abuja. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration ahead of upcoming PSC and police recruitment exercises.
Argungu stated that discretionary waivers often open the door to corrupt practices. He affirmed the PSC’s commitment to transparent, inclusive recruitment aligned with constitutional and federal character principles.
He warned that the illegal sale of recruitment slots would be met with arrests and prosecution, and stressed that future recruitments would be widely advertised to ensure equal access.
FCC Acting Chairman Mr. Oladele Kayode clarified that waivers are only granted upon request from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and commended the PSC’s stance on transparency and inter-agency cooperation.
