FG Launches CNG Staff Buses to Boost Welfare and Productivity

The Federal Government on Thursday launched a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja, as part of its renewed drive to improve staff welfare and enhance institutional performance within public service.

The development was announced in a statement issued by Mr. Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations at the ministry. Speaking during the launch, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, said the introduction of CNG buses is designed to ease staff mobility, reduce commuting costs, and support employee well-being.

Edun also announced the reintroduction of critical welfare provisions for staff, stating that the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to revitalise the workforce and enhance operational efficiency. He described the ministry as the “engine room of national transformation,” adding that such an engine must be “well-fuelled” through the support and motivation of its internal workforce.

He affirmed that the well-being and effectiveness of ministry staff are essential to the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s wider economic reform agenda.
