Soludo Targets One Million Tech-Savvy Youths in Digital Skills Push

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has launched the “1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe” (1MADT) initiative, aimed at equipping over one million residents and indigenes with globally relevant digital skills.

The programme, delivered through the Solution Innovation District (SID), is part of the state’s broader goal to become Africa’s Silicon Valley and a Smart Mega City.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms Chinwe Okoli, said the initiative would offer free, high-quality digital training to learners across Anambra via the SID Academy platform (www.sidacademy.ng).

Participants can choose from 32 courses in high-demand areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, web design, SEO, data analysis, graphic design, and digital marketing. Training lasts between 4 and 12 weeks and requires no prior experience.

“This is about more than individual learning. We are preparing Anambra’s workforce for the digital future,” Okoli said.

She added that SID would also establish Mini Hubs across communities and schools, equipped with internet access and digital learning tools, to ensure inclusivity.

Governor Soludo has already surpassed his earlier pledge to train 10,000 people annually, with the new target now set at one million.

“This is free for all Ndi Anambra,” Okoli emphasised. “And top performers will receive incentives like laptops and smartphones.”
