The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reiterated its commitment to staff welfare as a key driver of effective service delivery.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed made this known on Tuesday during the inauguration of new staff housing units in Ilorin.
He described the project as a reflection of the FRSC’s determination to provide affordable housing for all willing personnel, stressing that shelter remains a non-negotiable component of staff welfare.
“We have delivered over 40 acres of land for staff and public subscription, and handed over 40 housing units across various locations. The FRSC housing cooperative has also been restructured to align with current economic realities,” he said.
Mohammed encouraged staff to take advantage of ongoing housing schemes nationwide to achieve home ownership.
DCC Babatope Abaji, Officer-in-Charge of the Housing Unit, praised the leadership for making affordable housing a reality, noting that the initiative was in partnership with CAMICS Consults.
CAMICS representative in Kwara, Prince Mohammed Olaide, explained that while the project began years ago, tangible progress only resumed under the current Corps Marshal.
“CAMICS was selected in 2011. In 2016, the FRSC acquired 20 units, of which three were delivered. Today, we’re handing over another 10 units, and 10 more will be delivered within two months,” he said.
Former President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Usman Najeem-Yasin, commended the FRSC for the initiative, describing housing as essential for every civil servant.
The event was attended by representatives of sister agencies including the Nigeria Police, Immigration, Customs, and Correctional Services.
