The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has called on employers and employees to embrace innovative solutions to foster safe and healthy working environments.
Mr Usman Haruna, an official of the Fund, made this call during a road walk held to commemorate the 2025 World Day for Health and Safety at Work.
This year’s theme is: “Revolutionising Health and Safety: The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digitalisation at Work.”
Haruna said the road walk was organised to raise awareness and educate the public on the importance of adopting precautionary measures to remain safe and healthy at their workplaces.
He noted that the Fund conducts monthly visits to workplaces to assess safety practices and advise both workers and employers on preventive measures.
“We visit companies to observe practices that could be harmful to workers. Sometimes, these issues arise from negligence, either by employers or employees,” he said.
Haruna emphasised the need for proactive safety measures in the workplace, noting that a healthy workforce is critical to sustaining productivity.
