Zamfara Governor Approves 100% Increase in Corps Members’ Allowances

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved a 100 per cent increase in the allowances of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.

The announcement was made on Friday during the official opening of the 2025 Batch ‘A’, Stream I orientation course in Gusau. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the security and welfare of the 550 corps members deployed to Zamfara.

“I am pleased to announce the resumption of the payment of state allowances to all corps members serving in Zamfara State,” Lawal said. “Additionally, I have approved a 100 per cent upward review of the allowances.”

Governor Lawal further disclosed plans to introduce special allowances for medical corps members serving within the state. He assured the corps members of their safety and pledged the government’s continued support throughout their service year.

He urged them to embrace and respect the rich culture, history, and traditions of Zamfara, assuring them of a warm and hospitable environment during their stay.

“I wish to reiterate that we will prioritise your security and welfare. We are committed to providing all the necessary support to ensure your service year is both rewarding and memorable,” he added.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mohammad Ahmad, expressed gratitude to the governor for his sustained support for the scheme. He also acknowledged the improvements to orientation camp facilities and the reinstatement of the state allowances for corps members.
