The newly appointed Sole Administrator of Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State, Mr. Atajit Francis, has cautioned council staff against negligence and dereliction of duty.
Francis issued the warning on Monday at the council headquarters in Ngo, shortly after assuming office. He also held a meeting with Heads of the Local Government Administration, during which he emphasised the need for diligence in delivering people-centred services.
“The local government, as the tier closest to the people, must operate with commitment and integrity,” he said. “Under my watch, underperformance will not be tolerated.”
He outlined his mandate to include sanitation, environmental development, job creation, primary education, and primary healthcare.
“We are here to positively impact lives. While we hold office, we will recognise and reward hard work and dedication. I urge all staff to align their efforts with our developmental goals,” he stated.
Francis stressed that transparency and ethical conduct are non-negotiable if the local government is to effectively drive grassroots development.
“I expect all staff to uphold the highest standards of accountability and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities,” he added.
It will be recalled that Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, recently appointed administrators for all 23 local government areas in the state.
