Enugu Council Chairman Unveils ₦25bn Trust Fund for Community Growth

The Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Dr. Eric Odo, has announced plans to inaugurate a ₦25 billion Development and Humanitarian Trust Fund aimed at boosting development in the area.

Odo made this announcement on Friday when he received a delegation from the Enugu State Local Government Service Commission (ENSLGSC), led by its Chairman, Mr. Nana Ogbodo.

He explained that the trust fund would complement federal allocations and revenue-generating projects already underway under his administration.

“Our administration has been implementing key initiatives in agriculture, infrastructure, and education to improve the lives of residents,” Odo said, reflecting on the progress made since he took office.

“We set a vision for Igbo-Etiti to become the most progressive local government in Enugu State, Nigeria, and sub-Saharan Africa. It’s an ambitious goal, but we are determined to achieve it.”

Odo indicated that the ₦25 billion fund would support the local government’s developmental agenda and enhance the community’s economic potential.

“Once these initiatives are underway, we will assess the feasibility of beginning work on the proposed 50km road in Igbo-Etiti,” he said, adding that the success of these projects is made possible by the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

The chairman also commended the council staff for their dedication, stating, “My priority is to ensure that local government workers are content because their happiness is crucial to the success of our programmes.”

Earlier, Mr. Ogbodo, Chairman of the ENSLGSC, praised Odo for his developmental strides in Igbo-Etiti, noting the positive transformation taking place in the area.

Ogbodo urged the chairman to involve staff in his agricultural programmes, as the state government has mandated civil servants to participate in farming.
