Leadership Shift at NNPC as Ojulari Succeeds Kyari, Announces Key Appointments

Mr. Bayo Ojulari has officially taken over as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), succeeding Mr. Mele Kyari.

The leadership transition was formalised at a brief handover ceremony held on Friday at the NNPC Towers in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the company’s spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, the new GCEO acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor and expressed his intention to build on the company’s achievements.

“I will be relying on your support. I’ll be coming around to seek your counsel as we move forward,” Ojulari said, while addressing members of the management team.

Kyari, in his remarks, congratulated Ojulari and thanked NNPC staff for their cooperation during his tenure. He pledged to continue supporting the company, stating, “I am only a phone call away.”

In a related development, NNPC Ltd. also announced a new eight-member Senior Management Team to support Ojulari’s administration.

The newly constituted team includes:

  • Mr. Rowland Ewubare – Group Chief Operating Officer

  • Mr. Adedapo Segun – Group Chief Financial Officer

  • Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye – Executive Vice President, Gas, Power and New Energy

  • Mr. Udy Ntia – Executive Vice President, Upstream

  • Mr. Mumuni Dangazau – Executive Vice President, Downstream

  • Ms. Sophia Mbakwe – Executive Vice President, Business Services

  • Ms. Adesua Dozie – Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer

The appointments take immediate effect.
