44 Anambra Firms Earn SON Certification for Meeting Quality Standards

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has awarded Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates to 44 companies in Anambra State, recognising their commitment to quality and regulatory compliance.

The certification ceremony, held on Thursday at the SON Anambra Office 1 in Awka, covered the approval of new products, the recertification of existing ones, and the authorisation of select imported goods.

Speaking at the event, SON Director-General Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke described the certification as a significant milestone in ensuring that locally manufactured products adhere to established quality standards. He emphasised that compliance with these standards not only enhances product traceability and competitiveness but also facilitates international trade and investment.

Represented by Mr. Chinedu Agafie, Director of the Anambra Regional Office, Dr. Okeke commended the certified companies for their contributions to Nigeria’s economy. He urged them to sustain high manufacturing standards to remain competitive in the market.

“The Federal Government remains committed to supporting manufacturers to enhance job creation, revenue generation, and corporate social responsibility initiatives,” he said.

Presenting the certificates, Mr. Agafie congratulated the recipients and highlighted the importance of maintaining the required standards.

“We present the prestigious MANCAP certificates and logos to 44 companies covering 107 certified products. We urge you to adhere to all certification conditions. In today’s competitive business environment, upholding and improving quality is essential for customer satisfaction, sustained patronage, increased production, and profitability,” he stated.

Mr. Agafie also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for fostering a business-friendly environment in Anambra State.

Earlier, Mr. Emmanuel Husseni, State Coordinator for Anambra Office 1, welcomed the awardees and praised them for successfully meeting SON’s certification requirements. He noted that SON also offers calibration services to support product standardisation and encouraged certified companies to incorporate the new certification logo on their products.

Mrs. Christiana Nwaele, Managing Director of Sylflora Industries and Farms, lauded SON for strengthening the credibility of locally manufactured products through its regulatory oversight. However, she raised concerns about unregulated industry players whose operations could compromise public safety and business integrity.

The event underscored SON’s commitment to promoting product quality and standardisation in Anambra State and across Nigeria.
