The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for an entrepreneurship empowerment bootcamp aimed at equipping Nigerian women with essential business skills.
Announcing the initiative in Abuja on Wednesday, Malam Kashifu Inuwa, Director-General of NITDA said the five-day programme, known as “IgniteHer” was designed to address challenges such as digital literacy gaps and limited financial access.
The programme, he said, will provide participants with foundational business skills, scaling strategies, sustainability practices, and strategic planning tools and aligns with the 2025 theme, “Accelerate Action,” reinforcing the commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs for long-term success.
Represented by Mrs. Iklima Musa, Special Adviser on Strategic Partnerships, Inuwa said that empowering women was not only about equity, but unlocking the full potential of the society.
He praised JICA for its dedication to women’s empowerment and sustainable development in Nigeria, highlighting the importance of strategic partnerships in driving meaningful change. He urged the participants to embrace the experience with an open mind, a spirit of collaboration and a determination to excel.
“The future belongs to those who dare to dream, innovate and take bold steps toward their goal; this is your moment to shine,” he said.
“At NITDA, we recognise that empowering women in business is a strategic imperative for national development”
Also speaking at the occasion, JICA representative, Mr. Nao Fuwa, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and urged participants to fully engage in the programme.
The “IgniteHer” Bootcamp is expected to equip women with the skills and networks needed to overcome business barriers and foster a more inclusive and equitable digital economy in Nigeria.
