3MTT Programme to Drive Two Million Digital Jobs – Minister

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijjani, says the 3-Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme is central to the government’s ambition of creating two million digital jobs.

Speaking in Katsina at the fourth Youth Opportunity Summit on Saturday, Tijjani said the initiative is designed to equip young Nigerians with globally relevant digital skills.

The summit, themed ‘Leveraging Opportunities: Building a Future-Ready Youth,’ was convened by Hajiya Hauwa Liman, Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Women, Youth Engagement and Impact.

Tijjani explained that Europe’s ageing population would soon create a labour gap, which digitally skilled Africans could fill. In Katsina alone, over 3,000 people have been trained under the 3MTT scheme, with more sessions planned.

Senator Ibrahim Idah, represented by the Vice Chancellor of Yar’adua University, commended the summit’s impact.

Liman noted that the programme had reached more than 6,500 young people across Bayero University Kano, Kaduna State University, and Federal University Dutse. “It has grown from an event into a movement,” she said.

NAN reports that the summit also featured poetry, ignite talks, and an indigenous language speaking contest.
